These watches offer you great benefits and a watch enthusiast is sure to love them. It's quite fascinating looking at the movements inside a mechanical watch. Mechanical watches have been made by expert craftsmen over the years. They are a great piece of art!

Watch collectors spend millions on these watches. Some people fail to understand as why people spend so much on buying these watches. However these great pieces of art are meant for appreciation. They are not the typical watches which are used for time keeping.

History of mechanical watches: Traditional mechanical watches with analogue dials were based on watches made by Peter Henlein. They had more than 130 parts. There are three main sections in which these parts are put. These are the source of energy, the display and the regulating parts.

Mechanical watches are unique. The number of parts differs as per the functions of the watch. Collector bought these watches to record the phases of the moon, record time and for keeping a record of the date.

In case you pull a mechanical watch apart, you can see the complex movements inside it. There will be internal working movements along with a gear train, a balance wheel and hairsprings. A watch is able to record the time with the help of these parts.

Maintenance of mechanical watches: The watches have a high maintenance cost. The beautiful springs and gears need servicing regularly. This can turn into a costly affair. Thus you should always keep this in mind before you buy the watch.

Some mechanical watches claiming to be Swiss watches may just only have a swiss movement. Such watches are not Swiss made but are made by different companies. So in case you are buying a Swiss watch, make sure that you buy the real one. Few Swiss watch making companies like ETA and Valjoux make mechanisms that are also found in many popular brands.
